Facts: During the 1999/2000 season, Newcastle United experienced a turbulent campaign in the Premier League, finishing in 11th place. The team, managed by Ruud Gullit at the start of the season, struggled with inconsistency, and following a poor run of results, Gullit was replaced by Bobby Robson in September. Under Robson’s leadership, the Magpies improved, but still fell short of European qualification. Silvio Marić, a Croatian midfielder, was part of the squad during this season. However, Marić found it difficult to make a significant impact, struggling for regular playing time. Despite arriving with promise in 1999 from Dinamo Zagreb, he managed just one league goal during his entire spell at the club, which came against Sheffield Wednesday. Marić's time at Newcastle was ultimately disappointing, and he left the club at the end of the season, returning to Dinamo Zagreb.
