Facts: Alan Shearer’s time at Newcastle United (1996–2006) was legendary. Joining for a then-world-record fee of £15 million, the local hero became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 206 goals in 405 appearances. Known for his strength, clinical finishing, and leadership, Shearer was pivotal in Newcastle’s success, including two FA Cup final runs (1998, 1999) and a second-place Premier League finish in 1996–97. His dedication to the club cemented him as a fan favorite and one of English football's greatest strikers.

Shearer’s testimonial match took place on May 11, 2006, at St James’ Park, celebrating his remarkable career. A sold-out crowd of over 52,000 fans witnessed the event, where Newcastle played Celtic. Despite an injury ending his career early, Shearer scored a penalty in front of his adoring supporters, creating a fitting and emotional farewell to his playing days
