Facts: Under the management of Steve McClaren, Newcastle began the season with high hopes but struggled to find consistency in their performances. Despite bringing in new signings such as Georginio Wijnaldum and Aleksandar Mitrović, the team found themselves languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table for much of the season. The club's struggles continued throughout the season, with defensive frailties and a lack of cohesion evident in their play. Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, particularly from Wijnaldum and Mitrović, Newcastle failed to string together a significant run of positive results. In March 2016, with the team facing the very real threat of relegation, Steve McClaren was relieved of his duties as manager, and Rafa Benítez was appointed as his replacement. Benítez's arrival injected new hope into the club, but despite an improvement in performances, it was ultimately too little, too late.
