Facts: The 1990/1992 season was a memorable one for Newcastle United, marked by their impressive performance in the old Second Division (now known as the Championship). Under the management of Jim Smith, Newcastle United finished in third place in the Second Division table, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to the top flight. However, they secured promotion through the playoffs, defeating Sunderland in a memorable two-legged semi-final before overcoming Swindon Town in the final at Wembley Stadium.
