Facts: The 1998/1999 season for Newcastle United was a challenging yet memorable period in the club's history. Managed by Ruud Gullit, the Magpies experienced a mixed campaign in the Premier League, finishing a respectable mid-table position. In addition to their league campaign, Newcastle United also participated in domestic cup competitions. The team reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they were narrowly defeated by Manchester United During the 1998/1999 season, Newcastle United's primary goalkeeper was Shay Given. Given, an Irish international, was a key figure for the club during that period, known for his shot-stopping ability and commanding presence in goal. He joined Newcastle United in 1997 from Blackburn Rovers and went on to become one of the most successful and beloved goalkeepers in the club's history.
