Facts: In the 2007/2008 season, under the management of Sam Allardyce, Newcastle United had a relatively inconsistent performance in the Premier League. Despite bringing in several new players during the summer transfer window, including the likes of Alan Smith, Joey Barton, and José Enrique, the team struggled to find consistency and finished the season in 12th place. Off the field, there were ongoing ownership issues and financial instability, which impacted the club's ability to compete at the highest level.

The following season, Kevin Keegan returned for his second spell as manager midway through the 2007/2008 campaign. However, his tenure was short-lived, and he resigned from his position in September 2008 due to disagreements with the club's hierarchy. This led to further instability and managerial changes, with Joe Kinnear taking charge as interim manager for the remainder of the season.
