Facts: Between 2007 and 2009, Newcastle United experienced a tumultuous period marked by significant upheaval both on and off the pitch. In 2007, Mike Ashley took ownership of the club, bringing changes in management with Sam Allardyce starting the 2007-2008 season but soon being replaced by the returning Kevin Keegan. Despite a mid-table finish that season, the following year saw further instability, with Keegan resigning over disputes with the board and Joe Kinnear stepping in, only to be sidelined by health issues. Club legend Alan Shearer took over as caretaker manager towards the end of the 2008-2009 season in a bid to stave off relegation. However, Newcastle's struggles continued, culminating in their relegation from the Premier League after 16 years in the top flight.
