Facts: The 2010/2011 season marked Newcastle United’s return to the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship. Managed by Chris Hughton at the start of the season, the team made a solid start, highlighted by a 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa and a memorable 5-1 victory over rivals Sunderland. However, Hughton was controversially sacked in December 2010 and replaced by Alan Pardew. The season saw standout performances from players like captain Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, and striker Andy Carroll, who was sold to Liverpool for a record £35 million in January 2011. Newcastle finished 12th in the league, securing their top-flight status, with moments like Cheick Tioté’s stunning volley in the 4-4 comeback draw against Arsenal becoming iconic.
